YMCA Camp Menogyn
From the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northeastern Minnesota, Menogyn is uniquely situated to provide access to some of the finest wilderness areas in North America. We specialize in canoeing, backpacking and rock climbing trips for teens and provide family summer canoeing and winter dogsledding, skiing and snowshoeing programs as well. Introductory trips are one week in length with opportunities to progress to longer, more remote wilderness expeditions of up to 45 days in some of the most spectacular wild areas of North America.
Generations of young lives, since 1922, have been transformed by a Menogyn experience. Through wilderness travel and challenging learning experiences, teens build leadership skills, gain confidence in themselves, work closely with other people and explore extraordinary places.
MENOGYN (min-o-jin) is from the Ojibwe, “To grow fully.” This is a goal for every camper, our program is progressive, increasing in length and remote rugged travel as young men and women go through their high school years. Campers who have gone on previous trips are invited by Menogyn staff to take part in life-changing advanced trips of 30 and 50 days in length.
