Thunder Bay Observatory

Typical Winter / Spring Sky at observatory – Randy McAllister

This Astronomical Observatory is located minutes from Thunder Bay in a dark sky area. We cater to private groups who want to tour the night sky. Visitors get to experience views and take pictures of distant galaxies, nebula and planets, while hands on learning about the equipment and the night sky.

Tours are by reservation by calling the observatory and can require some adjustments according to the sunset time, phase of moon, and cloud covers.

Accessibility Notes

Build in 2001, the observatory is owned and operated by Randy McAllister (publishes local articles on Astronomy each month, host workshops on astronomy and astrophotography)
