Owner/Founder & CEO

Holly is the visionary behind the Haven who spent most of her twenties travelling around the world with her main focus on spanish speaking countries in Central America from Belize to Panama. Her travels were afforded by being submersed into the hostel culture, quickly learning you can still have an upscale stay in a budget accommodation that enables you to get out into the surroundings and do what she loves best; being an adrenaline junky (or journaling and drinking espresso). If you have any questions about rock climbing in the area, stand up paddle boarding, short and scenic motorcycle trips, or the long haul around Lake Superior (check out her blog @, she can get you sorted and would love nothing more than to talk shop. Maybe if you are lucky…. She can make you one of her favorite Mexican tacos ; )

Owner & CFO

Paul is the architect behind Get Out Gear Rentals. The shop, 20 years in the planning, is currently under construction in the secret other half of The Haven that will have all the rental gear for all levels of energy this summer 2019. A lover of all things outside who loves his city, he’s the proud owner of two fast and adventure oriented motorcycles. Paul knows how to get out and get people moving and he will gladly find a way to ensure you are having the best time and connected to the outdoors, no matter what your skill level is. The shop will offer bike rentals (fat tires, mountain and cruisers), helmets, camping kits, paddle sports, skates, maps, safety kits, the list goes on!

Eco-Friendly Notes

The hostel uses Vermiculture composting and has a diligent recycling system.

Pet Friendly Notes

We allow pets in our main floor suite and dogs under 20 pounds in our private upstairs rooms. There is a $15 dollar fee and the hostel must be contacted ahead of time as we have a two dog limit in our hostel. A Pet Policy App
