Although there are modern additions to the building, the historic building was constructed using native rock quarried from the banks of the Rainy River as a dam to generate electricity was constructed in 1909. The church spire competes with the dome of the Koochiching County Courthouse as the tallest structure.
Additions provide handicap accessible entrances and elevators to access all areas.
Public hours to visit the interior vary.
