Lake Vermilion, Minnesota

Lake Vermilion shorline

Lake Vermilion's 40,000 acres are a contrast, where you will find both rocky shoreline and sandy beaches; hundreds of small protected bays and coves and vast open water; populated areas with services you need and miles of undeveloped forested lakeshore.

Recreational Opportunities

Because of the diversity and size of Lake Vermilion, there are opportunities for all types of water activities. Motorized options such as water skiing, tubing, personal watercraft, and even jet boats can be found on Lake Vermilion. However, there are also ample opportunities for canoeing and kayaking, SUPs, sailing, wind surfing and more.

The main thing that draws people to Lake Vermilion, besides the panoramic views, is fishing. Walleye, northern pike, musky, small and largemouth bass, perch, bluegill, crappie, rock bass, and pumpkinseeds are all found here.

In winter, there are staked trails across the lake, connecting to 100's of miles of groomed trails in all directions. Of course, there is also ice fishing, cross country skiing and snow shoeing.
