Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Scenic Walking tour
Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre is a National Historic Site featuring ancient burial mounds on the shore of the Rainy River.
The area is a protected natural area, containing many different species of plants, animals and birds.
The walking trail contains many scenic overlook spots, including a view of the Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung rapids (The name translates to "the Place of the Long Rapids")
Best Starting Point
Start at the Visitor's centre parking lot. A short walk takes you past the old cemetery to the location of the traditional Roundhouse. This is also the head of the various ski and snow shoe trails in the winter season. Beyond the Roundhouse is the upper trail that takes you through the rest of the site, to the scenic overlook at the rapids.
