Hawk Ridge Fall Migration Volunteers
Each fall, thousands of migrating birds pass by Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve in Duluth, MN, as they make their way to their southern wintering grounds. Thousands of visitors also come to Hawk Ridge during the fall to witness the phenomenon. Volunteers are needed during the Fall migration to assist at the main overlook. Types of Volunteer Work Needed
Volunteer tasks include: greeting visitors, selling merchandise, pointing out birds to visitors (we’ll teach you how to tell them apart… it’s easy and fun to learn!), renting binoculars, conducting visitor counts & surveys, helping with the kid’s activity cart, transporting birds from our research station to the education site, etc.
Appropriate Ages for Volunteer Opportunity
Minimum age 16 to volunteer without supervision
Special Skills that May be Required or Helpful
Training provided. No experience necessary. Anyone is welcome who shares a passion for nature, birds, people and the outdoors, and has the desire to help, learn & have fun!
Must provide your own transportation to the site (no public transit.)
