Fort William Historical Park
One of Canada’s top outdoor attractions, Fort William Historical Park has something everyone will enjoy: award-winning historic programs, festivals and event, an astronomical observatory with one of Central Canada’s largest telescopes, a scenic campground, and outdoor adventure opportunities!
Travel back in time to 1816 and experience the drama and excitement of the Canadian fur trade at historic Fort William, the magnificent inland headquarters of the North West Company. Alive with the hustle and bustle of an active fur trade post, you will meet Scottish fur traders, the region’s Indigenous people, and French-Canadian voyageurs, artisans and farmers. Immerse yourself in the fur trade by interacting with Fort William’s residents, watching dramas, paddling a Voyageur canoe along the Kaministiquia River, firing a real fur trade musket, or testing your strength by lifting a fur pack. Fort William is full of adventure and discovery!
The historic site is open daily, 10:00am to 5:00pm, Victoria Day Weekend until late-September. Tours are offered by reservation October through mid-May.
