Deer Ridge Resort
Deer Ridge Resort is located on 35 acres of pristine woodlands with over 2,500 feet of shoreline. Garden Lake is one of four lakes on the White Iron chain of lakes. Garden, Farm and White Iron have no motor restrictions and South Farm is in the motorized portion of the BWCAW. We have two and three bedroom log cabins. Deer Ridge Resort sits on the edge of the famed BWCAW wilderness and is located in the heart of Superior National Forest near Ely Minnesota.
Fishing is the most popular pastime, but we are also a family-oriented resort. For the family we have an interpretive nature trail, playground, swim area, horseshoe court, badminton, frisbee golf and float plane rides right from the dock. We are also in walking distance of the Kawishiwi Waterfalls. Other area attractions include the International Wolf Center, Dorothy Molter Museum, Ely shopping, and nearby golf and Minnesota's best sunset from your cabin deck.
Take Hwy. 53 to Virginia MN. 2 miles north of town, turn east on Hwy. 169 and drive to Ely. Continue through town and drive east for 5 miles on the Fernberg Trail until you see our sign.
Locally or Family-Owned Business Notes
Doug and Dawn Kalina have owned and managed Deer Ridge from the start in 1996. Today Doug and Dawn run the resort with the help from their two sons Dawson and Dallas.
We use eco-friendly cleaners in all cabins. State of the art septic system keeps the lake clean. We also recycle all resort glass, cans and bottles, paper and cardboard.
