Bush Plane flight to White Otter Castle
Discover the legend of the White Otter Castle. One man built this four-story log cabin a century ago on a clear water wilderness lake in the midst of the Canadian Shield. Thirty air miles from the community of Ignace in the heart of the Canadian wilderness, this remote log castle conjures the imagination as to “why here”, “how”, and “who was this man”? Was he helped by a bear; does his body really lie in front of the castle? The legend includes a life’s effort for a bride who never arrived or perhaps a desire to not die in a shack. A 12-minute flight in an iconic Canadian Beaver or Otter aircraft can take you over the 13 portages he used to transport his supplies.
