Babbitt, Minnesota: Stoney Spur and Jack Pot Loop Trails

Trails are designated by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Superior National Forest, City of Babbitt and are maintained by the Babbitt ATV, Snowmobile and Ski Club. Trail is open from April 1st of year through November 1st. Visit the EXPLORE MINNESOTA web site for details.

These trails are funded in part by the State of Minnesota, US Forest Service and many volunteers of the Babbitt ATV, Snowmobile and Ski Club. To access maps contact the USDA Forest Service, Superior National Forest, Kawishiwi District 218-365-2081.

These trails will take you through some of Minnesota most unique Boreal forests and ever changing terrain. Terrain consists hills, rocks, mud, gravel and lots of unexpected natural beauty. Be prepared to bring extra gas, water and any other essentials as you will be riding the wilderness.

Riders can expect to wide range of forest landscapes (especially in the fall colors) winding rivers, remote lakes if you dare to brave the back woods. This region abuts the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area which is a prohibits the use of motorizers. Numerous forests road contain unique rock formations and visual high points. Bring your camera it won't be dissappointed.

Some trails are dual purpose for ATV and UTV. Check maps for designation. Nov through March trails are designated for snowmobile use.

Trail Distance

Be prepared to spend 3-6 hours and you can cover up to 80 miles.

Trailhead Access and Parking

Parking is available 1/4 mile west of Babbitt on the south side of County Road 70. You can directly access the trail from that point. Follow the trail markers towards Babbitt and you may drive on right side of the city streets. This is as long as you directly access any number of local shops. Shops include gas/convenient stores, grocery store, local restaurants, ATV dealer, and ATV Rental and Guide store.
