Locally or Family-Owned Business

Accessibility Notes

AAS has frequently accommodated people with disabilities. One guest with lifelong MS remarked that it was 'the best day in my entire life--I got to forget about MS.

Eco-Friendly Notes

Sailing is a peaceful, earth-friendly way to experience the majestic waters of Lake Superior and the quiet dark beauty of the north shore. Most visitors, as well as many local citizens, have never seen this shoreline from the water and only the smallest minority have had the opportunity to sail here. Sailing--from clipper ships to modern yachts--is a proud and courageous tradition on western Lake Superior where wind and weather show every mood in all seasons. Amicus II is a "blue-water" vessel, capable of managing rough conditions. As a modern sailboat, however, she is intentionally set up for a lower carbon footprint with solar panels, wind vane steering, wind generator, simple household features, and minimal electronics.

Pet Friendly Notes

Pets allowed only on private charters.
